In the heat of this summer, its very important to keep your horses cool during transportation. In many horse trailers this is difficult to do – but not in the Cheval Liberte range of trailers!

Cheval Liberte horse trailers are designed with built-in airflow features to keep horses cool and prevent heat exhaustion during hot summer weather or heatwaves.

Key Ventilation Features

Large Opening Windows: Positioned all around are large sliding windows in the trailers to maximize cross-breeze when travelling.
Airtech Rollers: Mesh-style roller blinds above the rear ramp that allow continuous air circulation while keeping the interior secure and protecting the horses from rain, debris or weather.
Roof Vents: Adjustable openings that let hot air rise and escape out of the top of the trailer when in hot conditions. When cooler or heavy downpours are expected they should be closed.
Lifting Side Flaps: Available on specific models (like the Maxi range) to create an open, mobile-stable environment when stationary

Hot Weather Travelling Tips

Travel Off-Peak: Move horses early in the morning or late in the evening during cooler temperatures.
Keep Moving: Continuous motion maximizes the passive airflow through the trailer's vents and open windows, try to avoid traffic or long stops on the road.
Maximize Openings: Secure all sliding windows and roof vents fully open while travelling, and open top doors or ramps when stationary.
Skip the Rugs: Avoid using travel sheets or rugs so the horse's body heat can dissipate freely.
Hydration Breaks: Make sure to stop at least every 4 hours to offer the horses fresh water.

Horses can easily over heat and arrive sweaty and distressed without adequate airflow whilst travelling. Always try to provide as much airflow through your trailer as possible to maintain a healthy environment for your horses.
