Horse Trailer Servicing: Why Autumn Is the Ideal Time
Autumn has arrived, bringing the end of the main competition and show season for many horse owners across the UK. If your horse trailer has spent the summer travelling to shows, events, training sessions and competitions, this is an ideal time to give it some attention before winter.
Rather than simply parking your trailer up until next season, booking a professional horse trailer service can help identify wear, damage or developing problems before several months of colder, wetter weather.
Why service your horse trailer in autumn?
Horse trailers work hard throughout spring and summer. Long journeys, repeated loading and unloading, muddy showgrounds and regular use can all affect components including the brakes, tyres, electrics, floor and ramp. Having your trailer inspected at the end of the season means any problems can be identified early rather than being discovered when you need to use the trailer again.
At West House Trailers, our full horse trailer service includes checks of the brakes, electrics, axle, ramps, tyres, clips, flooring and other key components to help ensure your trailer remains safe and dependable.
We also power wash the exterior of the trailer, helping to remove dirt and grime before winter storage and reducing the risk of corrosion developing during the colder months.
A full trailer service is currently £110 plus VAT. Book Now >
Protect your horse trailer over winter
Cold temperatures, damp conditions and long periods without use can all take their toll on a horse trailer.
Servicing it before winter gives you an opportunity to deal with worn components, tyre problems, braking issues or damage before the trailer is stored. It also means that when the new season arrives, your trailer should be ready to use rather than needing unexpected repairs at the last minute. Even if your trailer has only been used occasionally during the year, an annual inspection is a sensible way to keep an eye on its overall condition.
